We envision to educate the next generation of neuromuscular specialists. The Neuromuscular Medicine Fellowship program at the University of Miami/Jackson Memorial Hospital is dedicated to the training of future neuromuscular neurologists through broad exposure to general neuromuscular disease, specialist neuromuscular disease programs, electrodiagnostic studies and neuromuscular pathology. We accomplish this by providing trainees hands-on training in a broad range of specialty and subspecialty clinical programs, exposure to diverse faculty with particular expertise in a host of different neuromuscular diseases, and by providing an environment that is conductive to learning. We are committed that all our fellows are well trained, and board certified so that they can provide capable and compassionate care to patients with a broad range of neuromuscular disorders.

Message from Program Director: We accept application through the 缅北禁地 fellowship portal. Applications can be submitted starting in January of the year prior to the fellowship start date. Interview offers will not be made before March 1 and fellowship position will not be offered until June 1. Our Fellowship Program is one year in duration, with the possibility of a second year for those who wish to also acquire research exposure and expertise. During the initial one-year period, each fellow works with our diverse faculty to achieve comprehensive exposure to the care of patients with a broad range of neuromuscular diseases, as well as electromyographic, molecular genetics and neuromuscular pathology services. We are home to University of Miami ALS Center (that includes the Kessenich Family ALS Clinic), adult MDA clinic, and CMT/Neuropathy Center of Excellence. Additional specialty clinics are focused on myositis and myasthenia gravis. Our fellows receive electromyography training in outpatient and inpatient settings, as well as neuropathology exposure through regular teaching sessions at the multi-head microscope. Our neuromuscular faculty is involved in a range of investigator-initiated and multi-center clinical research studies in diseases, such as ALS, myasthenia gravis, and peripheral neuropathy. Our research enterprise is supported by the National Institutes of Health, Federal Drug Administration, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the Department of Defense, the Muscular Dystrophy Association, the ALS Association, Target ALS, the ALS Recovery Fund, and the Kimmelman Estate. Each neuromuscular fellow is afforded the opportunity to participate in clinical research programs in our neuromuscular division.

We are one of the largest neurology departments and neurology residency programs in the country, as we believe that large diverse faculty and residents are an integral part of providing education. We currently have 45 residents 23 fellows and 104 full time faculty in our neurology department.

The South Florida environment in which you will train is an important aspect of selecting a fellowship program, and the greater Miami area is a superb place both to work and live. Home to a truly diverse community, a range of national sports franchises, multi-ethnic culinary experiences, and the year-round outdoor water and sports activities, Miami is one of the world鈥檚 premier destinations. We invite you to come and see first-hand why patients, faculty and students across the country and world are drawn to Miami and the University of Miami/Jackson Health System.
